Job summary

Insight Global has a client seeking a Power Distribution Engineer to join the team. The role is fully remote but must be based in the Plainfield or Indianapolis area, focusing on preparing project and job packages including material lists, requisitions, labor estimates and site drawings for electrical distribution installations.

The candidate will assist with design and engineering, perform calculations, review codes, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver cost-effective solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field OR 5+ years of distribution experience.
• Prefer 1-4 years of power distribution experience.
• Experience designing overhead or underground electrical distribution systems.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and engineering of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
• Assist with preparation of construction drawings, engineering calculations, equipment specifications, and project documentation.
• Participate in utility distribution projects involving system upgrades, reliability improvements, new customer connections, and infrastructure modernization.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, field personnel, clients, and subcontractors to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
• Review utility standards, codes, and regulations to ensure engineering compliance.
• Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and equipment sizing under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Conduct field investigations and site visits to gather project information and validate design assumptions.
