Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a CAD Drafter in a hybrid Chicago-area role. You will draft design drawings from input in a multi-disciplinary team, while gaining hands-on experience in 3D design software environments. You may accompany experienced designers on client walkdowns to collect information for your projects.

The position emphasizes 3D visualization, MicroStation proficiency, and the ability to multitask across projects, with collaboration across engineers and vendors for design adjustments.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in a technical area including drafting or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience
• 5 years or more drafting experience using standard computer drafting tools (i.e MicroStation)
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer
• Knowledge in MicroStation
• Ability to multi-task from project to project

Responsibilities

• Draft design drawings from design input in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Apply CAD skills and learn 3D design software environments.
• Create master sketches to scale showing installation relationships and specs.
• Join walkdowns at client facilities to gather information for your design project.
• Explain drawings to vendors and construction contractors for design adjustments.
