Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Designer in Oak Ridge, TN, to develop and maintain electrical design documentation and detailed drawings. The role collaborates with electrical engineers and CAD teams to deliver project deliverables and supports field walkdowns for accurate execution.

The ideal candidate brings experience with Bentley MicroStation, MV/LV distributions, and industrial control systems, and has an associates degree or higher, with at least six years in electrical design.

Qualifications

  • Experience using Bentley MicroStation for electrical drafting and design.
  • Low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Industrial control systems.
  • Electrical construction and installation practices.
  • 6 years experience as an Electrical Designer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electrical design documentation.
  • Create and revise diagrams and plans (one-line, wiring, lighting, power, I&C).
  • Prepare technical data sheets, specs, and field walkdown reports.
  • Support design for MV/LV power distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers and CAD staff to deliver project deliverables.
  • Participate in field walkdowns to verify requirements and support execution.
  • Provide construction and operations support for design outputs.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards and codes.
  • Work safely in industrial environments including radiological areas when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain electrical design documentation utilizing Bentley MicroStation.
  • Create and revise one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting and power plans, installation details, instrumentation & Control (I&C) diagrams, conduit and cable schedules, fire alarm system drawings, communications system drawings.
  • Prepare technical data sheets, specifications, and field walkdown reports.
  • Support design engineering efforts for low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems.
  • Assist in the design and documentation of industrial control systems.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and CAD design personnel to develop project deliverables.
  • Participate in field walkdowns and site assessments to verify design requirements and support project execution.
  • Provide construction and operational support related to engineering design outputs.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and codes.
  • Work safely in industrial environments, including occasional radiological-controlled areas when required.
