Job Title: Designer I, II, or Sr. Designer
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed electrical engineering drawings using 2D CAD software and 3D cable tray and equipment modeling software. This role involves preparing detailed electrical drawings, and design documentation for compressor stations, metering facilities, and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and collaborate closely with engineers and project teams to deliver accurate, compliant, and high-quality design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and coordinate electrical power and instrumentation systems utilizing 2D CAD software.
- Develop and maintain 3D electrical models and participate in interdisciplinary model reviews and clash detection, where applicable.
- Prepare detailed electrical design drawings, including site plans, equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, lighting plans, grounding plans, conduit and cable tray layouts, underground duct banks, and installation details.
- Develop and maintain construction drawing packages, including legends, notes, schedules, details, and drawing revisions.
- Design and coordinate electrical raceway systems, cable routing, grounding systems, lighting layouts, and electrical equipment arrangements.
- Assist with instrumentation and control system layouts, including junction boxes, PLC panels, local control stations, and associated wiring.
- Incorporate engineering calculations, equipment vendor information, client comments, and field revisions into design documents.
- Maintain drawing databases, templates, styles, and drafting standards.
- Perform thorough quality control reviews to ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards.
- Utilize Bluebeam Revu for efficient document markup, review, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with engineers, clients, vendors, project stakeholders, and field teams.
- Participate in internal and external project meetings to support coordination, resolve design issues, and ensure project alignment across multiple disciplines.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or formal training in Drafting, Electrical Design, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field required. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
- 4+ years of experience.
- Title and level will be commensurate with experience. Candidates with significant additional relevant experience may be considered for a Senior Designer title.
- Experience in preparing and understanding cable and conduit schedules, I/O Lists, P&IDs, electrical and instrumentation plans, profiles, and detail drawings using AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, or CADWorx modeling software is a plus.
- Ability to identify design conflicts and propose practical resolutions.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain accuracy with minimal supervision.
