Job summary

Mohr Talent is seeking a BIM Designer with electrical contracting experience to turn design concepts into accurate, coordinated, buildable plans for commercial and industrial projects in Kansas City. The role emphasizes hands-on BIM modeling, coordination, and producing shop drawings and installation documents that support field teams.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in electrical BIM modeling, strong Revit/Navisworks skills, and a detail-oriented approach to resolve constructability issues

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of BIM modeling or BIM design experience within electrical contracting.
  • Strong experience using Revit and Navisworks.
  • Background supporting commercial or industrial electrical construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and electrical plans.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, layouts, coordination, and field installation needs.
  • Experience creating shop drawings, installation drawings, or coordination models.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to catch design or coordination issues early.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work with project managers, field teams, and other trades.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing multiple project deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed electrical BIM models for commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Use Revit and Navisworks to create, coordinate, and update project models.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and support clash detection with other trades.
  • Create detailed shop drawings, layout plans, and installation documents for field teams.
  • Work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and design teams to ensure plans are accurate and buildable.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements to support proper electrical layouts.
  • Help identify design conflicts, coordination issues, and constructability concerns before they impact the field.
  • Maintain organized project files, model updates, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay current with BIM standards, electrical construction technology, and modeling best practices.

About the Opportunity

We’re partnering with a long-standing, family-owned electrical contractor that has built a strong reputation for quality work, integrity, and craftsmanship. The company supports a wide range of electrical construction projects, including design-build, pre-construction, underground electrical, data/communications, commercial, industrial, and specialty systems.

They’re looking for a BIM Designer with electrical contracting experience who can turn design concepts into accurate, coordinated, buildable plans. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed design work, construction coordination, and being part of a close-knit team where their work directly supports the field and project delivery.
