We empower and trust our employees to take initiative and make decisions that drive our business forward. We strive to make a positive impact on the world around us.

Electrical Designer Summary: The Electrical Designer II is responsible for the design, development, and documentation of electrical systems, components, and assemblies in support of product and project requirements. This role applies established electrical design principles and practices to develop accurate, manufacturable, and reliable solutions with a greater degree of independence than an entry-level designer. The Electrical Designer II collaborates closely with engineers, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and other cross-functional teams to translate requirements into detailed schematics, layouts, drawings, and bills of material. The role also supports design reviews, prototype and production activities, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while contributing technical knowledge and sound judgment to achieve performance, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

Electrical Designer Essential Functions:
  • Design and develop electrical components, assemblies, layouts, schematics, and related documentation based on engineering requirements, project specifications, and established design standards.
  • Independently create, modify, and maintain accurate electrical drawing packages using AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS Electrical, and other applicable design tools.
  • Translate engineering concepts and requirements into practical, manufacturable electrical designs while considering functionality, reliability, safety, cost, and ease of assembly.
  • Select and specify electrical components, materials, hardware, and related design elements appropriate for the application and project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain bills of material (BOMs), component specifications, manufacturing tolerances, wire and cable information, and other technical documentation required to support production and assembly.
  • Apply electrical drafting and design standards, including appropriate schematic conventions, drawing practices, tolerances, and document-control requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and other stakeholders to evaluate designs, identify potential issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and production activities by providing technical information, reviewing design performance, and resolving electrical design-related issues.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues, determine appropriate corrective actions, and incorporate approved changes into drawings, models, and related documentation.
  • Review design work and documentation for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and consistency with engineering requirements and established quality standards.
  • Manage assigned design activities and deliverables, communicate project status, identify potential risks or delays, and complete work within established schedules.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to less-experienced designers as appropriate and share knowledge of design practices, tools, and processes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve electrical designs, documentation, manufacturability, efficiency, quality, and design processes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant electrical design practices, industry standards, technologies, and CAD tools to support ongoing product and process improvements.
  • Support special projects and other engineering or design initiatives as assigned.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Support CMD’s values and contribute to customer success.
