  • Participate in design reviews; incorporate approved feedback and verify design intent.
  • Support prototype, validation, testing, and implement design revisions as needed.
  • Maintain design records and revision control for reliable downstream use.
  • Evaluate materials and manufacturing methods to improve functionality and cost effectiveness.

Mechanical Designer II Summary:

The Mechanical Designer II develops and refines mechanical systems, components, and production-ready designs that meet customer, technical, and manufacturing requirements. Working collaboratively with engineers, manufacturing partners, and other cross-functional team members, this role applies CAD expertise and sound design principles to produce accurate drawings, specifications, and bills of materials; incorporate feedback from reviews and validation activities; and resolve design-related issues throughout the product lifecycle. The Mechanical Designer II manages assigned design work with increasing independence, supports project schedules, and contributes practical solutions that improve equipment performance, manufacturability, and customer outcomes.

Mechanical Designer II Essential Functions:
  • Develop and refine mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software, applying sound design practices to meet customer, technical, safety, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Translate project requirements and design intent into accurate, production-ready models, drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, service, and other cross-functional partners to evaluate design requirements, constraints, risks, and practical solutions.
  • Lead assigned design work with increasing independence, establishing priorities, communicating status, and completing deliverables in accordance with project schedules and quality expectations.
  • Participate actively in design reviews by presenting work, verifying design intent, identifying potential issues, and incorporating approved feedback.
  • Support prototype, validation, and testing activities by providing current design data, evaluating results, and implementing necessary design revisions.
  • Investigate and resolve design-related issues during fabrication, assembly, installation, and operation in partnership with engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Maintain accurate design records and revision control to ensure documentation reflects approved configurations and supports reliable downstream use.
  • Evaluate materials, components, and manufacturing methods to improve functionality, quality, manufacturability, cost effectiveness, and equipment performance.
  • Apply relevant industry standards, company practices, and emerging technologies to strengthen design quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Work Environment:

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • Capacity to use standard office equipment such as computer, telephone, and videoconferencing.
  • Ability to navigate manufacturing floor environment, which may include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
  • Capacity to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, and hard hat as needed.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to moderate levels of noise, vibration, odor, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow health and safety guidelines and protocols including emergency procedures.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
