Job summary

nVent is seeking an Electrical Design Supervisor to lead a team of Electrical Designers responsible for electrical documentation and control systems for custom power distribution enclosures. The role emphasizes developing people, coordinating priorities, and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The position requires supervising a four-person team, coordinating workloads across multiple projects, and collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years in electrical design, drafting, controls design, or related experience.
  • Supervisory, team lead, project leadership, mentoring, or training experience preferred.
  • Experience creating, reviewing, or supporting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control circuits, relay systems.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Electrical or comparable software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in manufacturing/engineered-to-order environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of four Electrical Designers, supporting onboarding, training, performance, and day-to-day execution.
  • Coordinate design workloads and priorities across multiple customer projects to ensure on-schedule delivery.
  • Support the team in developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, relay controls, communication architecture, and other design docs for custom power distribution equipment.
  • Perform targeted drawing and design reviews to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with customer requirements and company standards.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Operations teams to support project execution and resolve design challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to improve design processes, documentation practices, and team efficiency.
  • Serve as a resource for designers using AutoCAD Electrical and promote consistency in design practices.

What you will experience in this position:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of four Electrical Designers, supporting onboarding, training, performance, and day-to-day execution.

  • Support the team in developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, relay controls, communication architecture, and other electrical design documentation for custom power distribution equipment.

You have:
  • Associate's (A.S.) degree in Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of electrical design, drafting, controls design, or related experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory, team lead, project leadership, mentoring, or training experience preferred.
  • Experience creating, reviewing, or supporting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control circuits, relay systems, or similar electrical design documentation.
  • Hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Electrical or comparable electrical design software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a manufacturing, industrial, or engineered-to-order environment.
