Job summary

Octagon Group in Texas is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to own the ground-up electrical design of industrial control panels for AI and data-center infrastructure.

You will develop schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, and ensure designs meet UL 508A, UL-listed requirements, NEC Article 409, and align with mechanical and manufacturing teams. Relocation and H-1B visa transfers may be considered to attract top candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience designing industrial control panels or electrical control systems.
• Ability to create panel designs from scratch, not just modify existing drawings.
• Knowledge of component selection and compatibility checks.
• Experience with UL 508A and UL-listed panel shop environments.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience producing schematics, layouts, wiring diagrams and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Design industrial control panels and electrical control systems from the ground up.
• Produce electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and complete design packages.
• Select control-system components and verify their technical compatibility.
• Develop accurate bills of materials, wire schedules and supporting documentation.
• Design in accordance with UL 508A, UL 891, NEC Article 409 and related standards.
• Work closely with mechanical, manufacturing and applications engineering teams.
• Support testing, troubleshooting and the transition of designs into production.
