Job description

Electrical Engineer – Switchgear Controls & Power Distribution Equipment

Location: Tempe, Arizona – Fully Onsite

Schedule: 50–55 hours per week

Position: Full-time, Permanent

Are you an Electrical Engineer with hands-on experience designing power-distribution equipment?

We are supporting a rapidly growing electrical-equipment manufacturer in Tempe that is looking for a design-focused engineer to take customer requirements and turn them into production-ready products. This is not a field-service or testing position, you will have direct involvement in the design of PDUs, panelboards and related low-voltage equipment.

You will work alongside engineering, production and supply-chain teams, supporting projects from the initial client specification through design and manufacture. It is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to see their designs built, tested and delivered within the same facility.

This is an exciting time to join a hugely growing organization that can offer long-term stability, career progression and the opportunity to develop alongside the business.

What You’ll Do
  • Design switchgear controls, PDUs, panelboards and related low-voltage power-distribution equipment
  • Review client specifications and translate them into accurate product designs
  • Produce detailed technical drawings and models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Develop designs that are practical, efficient and ready for manufacture
  • Support projects throughout the full design-to-production lifecycle
  • Work directly with production teams to answer technical questions and resolve design issues
  • Collaborate with supply chain regarding components, materials and product requirements
  • Ensure designs meet applicable UL standards and customer specifications
  • Assist with design changes and product improvements
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation throughout each project
  • Help ensure finished products are delivered to the required technical and quality standards
What we’re looking for
  • Product-design experience within PDU, switchgear, low-voltage or electrical-equipment manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • An understanding of UL standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience taking electrical products from initial specification through to manufacture
  • The ability to work collaboratively with engineering, production and supply-chain teams
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred, although equivalent industry experience will be considered
What’s on offer
  • Competitive salary of $90,000–$130,000, depending on experience
  • Company benefits package
  • A key position within a rapidly growing organization
  • Long-term stability and genuine scope for career progression
  • The opportunity to take ownership of projects from specification through manufacture
  • Direct involvement in the design of specialist power-distribution equipment
  • The chance to work closely with experienced engineering, production and supply-chain teams
  • A hands-on environment where you can see your designs move through production and become finished products

Direct product-design experience is the priority. Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily within field service, commissioning or equipment testing are unlikely to be suitable.
