Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer – Protection & Power Systems to develop protection and control designs and perform power system studies. This role focuses on relay retrofits, arc flash analysis, coordination studies, and power system modeling, collaborating with project managers, field technicians, and customers.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of protective relaying and power systems, with experience using SKM ETAP EasyPower and familiarity with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 3+ years of experience in power systems engineering, protective relaying, or electrical design.
• Knowledge of electrical protection systems and relay coordination.
• Experience performing arc flash and coordination studies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review protection and control schematics for medium- and high-voltage systems.
• Design relay retrofit solutions for substations, industrial facilities, and utility applications.
• Create wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bill of materials.
• Develop relay setting files and protection philosophies per requirements.
• Perform arc flash hazard analyses per NFPA 70E and IEEE standards.
• Conduct protective device coordination studies.
• Perform short-circuit, load flow, motor starting, and power quality studies.
• Interface with customers to gather data and define project requirements.
• Support commissioning activities and field engineering support.
