Job summary

Applied Engineering in Waukesha, WI seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to lead low- and medium-voltage projects. You will develop AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs while ensuring code compliance and strong collaboration with suppliers and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design including LV/MV power.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and power system docs.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, PC-based controls, and distributed processing.
• Experience creating AutoCAD drawings and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, UL codes; UL891/UL508A familiarity.
• Ability to specify components and develop BOMs for projects.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design on low- and medium-voltage projects.
• Interpret specs and customer requirements for detailed designs.
• Create AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
• Research components and develop BOMs for designs.
• Coordinate with purchasing to approve components and assemblies.
• Design power system control schemes including SCADA integration.
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA, NEC, UL standards.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing and testing teams.
• Conduct design reviews for accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with suppliers and Applied partners.
