Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Electrical Engineer to develop electrical design for Industrial Manufacturing projects across manufacturing, ag/bio-process, food/beverage, oil refining, and packaging sectors. Strong communication and initiative are essential.

You will produce one-line diagrams, schematics, power and lighting plans, panel schedules, field instrumentation, and technical specifications, working under general supervision with multidisciplinary teams on North America projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• EIT/EI, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
• 1+ years in electrical design, planning and construction services.
• Consulting and Industrial Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Power system analysis experience in SKM, ETAP, or other analysis software a plus.
• Basic understanding of NEC/NFPA 70 requirements, and hazardous classified area concepts preferred.
• Familiarity with PLC wiring and controls is preferred. PLC programming experience is not required.
• AutoCAD experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop Electrical design for Industrial Manufacturing projects, including manufacturing, ag/bio-process, food/beverage, oil refining, and packaging industries.
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and initiative.
• Develop complex engineering deliverables including one-line diagrams, schematics, power and lighting plans, panel schedules, field instrumentation, electrical installation details, and technical specifications.
• Function in a technical specialist capacity; under general supervision, perform all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis.
• Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, including process, mechanical, instrumentation and controls, structural, civil, and architectural disciplines.
• Continuous learning and development of technical expertise/specialty area.
• Coordinate with regional and global design teams.
• Do project studies – Energy Optimization, Power System Coordination, and Arc Flash Hazard Analysis.
• Construction inspection and resolution of electrical construction issues.
