Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) in Boise, Idaho seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to create detailed physical and electrical designs and support project estimates. You will prepare CAD drawings, provide design engineering support to project leads, and ensure timely, high-quality results under supervision.

The role requires an associates degree or equivalent experience with strong CAD skills (AUTOCAD or MicroStation), plus knowledge of protective relays and high voltage systems.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in EET, CAD, Drafting or equivalent experience per year.
• Three+ years of high voltage electrical design experience including protective relay controls.
• Ability to learn technical product concepts and work under supervision.
• Competency in CAD drafting with AUTOCAD or MicroStation.
• Understanding of installation requirements for protective relays.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed physical and electrical designs and support estimates under a technical lead.
• Prepare CAD drawings and project documentation.
• Provide design engineering support to project leads.
• Complete assigned work within timelines and budgets with high quality.
• Develop expertise in SEL design practices and equipment.
