Job summary

James Gray Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer (MEP) to join its Building Services team in Boston. You will develop electrical building systems for new-builds and refurbishments, collaborating with architects and multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, energy-efficient designs from concept through construction.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD and the NEC/NFPA, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Experience designing electrical systems within the building services consulting industry.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of NEC and NFPA and applicable building codes.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical building services systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents.
• Produce and review drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and structural disciplines.
• Attend client meetings, design reviews, and site visits as required.
• Support construction administration activities, including reviewing shop drawings and RFIs.
• Contribute to sustainable and energy-efficient building design solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable U.S. codes and industry standards.
