Job summary

Theoris is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Wichita to design avionics, power electronics, and battery systems across the product lifecycle. You will work on cockpitDisplays, sensing, data storage interfaces, and analog/digital power conversion, collaborating across teams.

Responsibilities include designing analog front-end circuits, leading mixed-signal integration, testing with lab equipment, and creating thorough design documentation and manufacturing artifacts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
• At least 5 years of analog and mixed-signal design experience for precision instrumentation.
• Proficient with PADS, LTSpice, or similar schematic capture.
• Strong PCB layout and signal integrity knowledge.
• Familiarity with RTCA DO-160 or MIL-STD-810/461 EMI/EMC practices.
• Excellent communication and detail orientation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement analog front-end circuits, including amplifiers, ADC/DAC interfaces, and filtering stages for accurate signal processing.
• Lead mixed-signal system integration to design and verify data conversion, filtering, and conditioning stages.
• Research new components, technologies, and methods for new and existing designs.
• Coordinate with layout, mechanical, software, and certification engineers.
• Build and troubleshoot hardware, including soldering and operating test equipment, in both office and test-lab environments.
• Participate in rigorous testing using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers to validate performance against stringent requirements.
• Design and integrate manufacturing tools for new products as needed.
• Create detailed documentation for design verification, testing protocols, and component selection rationales, including BOMs, ECOs, and work instructions.

JOB DESCRIPTION: As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will design avionics, power electronics, and battery systems interfacing within high-performance and safety-critical systems. You will experience the entire product lifecycle—from concept and requirements through design, implementation, testing, certification, and field application. You can expect opportunities involving cockpit displays and instruments, local and remote sensing, data conversion and storage, lithium battery management, and analog/digital support for AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC power conversion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement analog front-end circuits, including amplifiers, ADC/DAC interfaces, and filtering stages for accurate signal processing.
• Lead mixed-signal system integration to design and verify reliable data conversion, filtering, and conditioning stages.
• Research new components, technologies, and methods for new and existing designs.
• Coordinate with layout, mechanical, software, and certification engineers.
• Build and troubleshoot hardware, including soldering and operating test equipment, in both office and test-lab environments.

REQUIREMENTS:

• You have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• You have a minimum of 5 years in analog and mixed-signal design, particularly suited to precision instrumentation, signal conditioning, and integrated circuit applications.
• You are proficient with design and simulation tools (PADS, LTSpice, or similar schematic capture).
• You have a strong grasp of mixed-signal simulation techniques and PCB layout software.
• You understand signal integrity, impedance matching, and EMI/EMC design practices such as RTCA DO-160 or MIL-STD-810/461.
• You are proficient with Microsoft Office.
• You have strong attention to detail.
• You are organized, focused, and results-oriented.
• You are a problem-solver with strong critical-thinking and prioritization skills.
• You have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
