Job summary

Legence Corp. in San Diego, CA is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support lighting-focused electrical systems for diverse projects. The role requires 2–5 years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with strong AutoCAD and Revit skills.

You will perform field surveys, develop schematics, power diagrams, and calculations, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to sustainable design initiatives while working on-site with a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required
  • 2–5 years of electrical design experience
  • Experience with lighting design is preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required
  • Familiarity with Title 24 compliance is a plus
  • EIT, IES/IEEE affiliation are pluses

  • Perform electrical calculations (arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, load flow) using ETAP/SKM

P2S|CMTA is a provider of professional engineering services to a broad range of markets, including higher education, healthcare, ports/harbors, industrial, entertainment, commercial, laboratories, municipal, and federal sectors. Our specialties include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology integration. We offer engineering and commissioning to construction management services with a blend of innovation and technical excellence in delivering green solutions that enhance and sustain the built, natural, and social environments.

We currently have offices in Long Beach, Seattle, Irvine, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Jose.

Experience: 2‑5 years. Employment Type: Full‑time. Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in‑office / 2 remote. Salary Range: $90,000 – $115,000 (dependent on experience). This role is also eligible for an annual performance‑based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed. Location: San Diego Office.

General Responsibilities
  • Perform field surveys for the design of electrical systems, gather information, and prepare site assessment reports.
  • Prepare electrical schematic designs.
  • Design power single‑line and riser diagrams.
  • Perform electrical calculations (arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, load flow) using ETAP/SKM.
  • Lighting fixtures and power equipment selection.
  • Perform lighting and power circuiting.
  • Design and coordinate the lighting control system.
  • Prepare fire alarm device layout based on International Fire Code and NFPA 72.
  • Design fire alarm riser diagrams, calculations, and sequence of operations.
  • Prepare enlarged plans, elevations, schedules, and details.
  • Understand and utilize CAD/BIM standards.
  • Have a working knowledge of National Electrical Code and Energy Standards to design medium voltage and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Coordinate among different disciplines (mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural) and work in close contact with the entire design team.
Construction Administration
  • Review and respond to RFIs.
  • Perform punch walks and prepare punch list reports.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support electrical design projects with a focus on lighting systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions.
  • Assist with lighting circuiting and lighting controls design.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit MEP for design documentation.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required).
  • 2‑5 years of experience in electrical design.
  • Experience with lighting design preferred.
  • Familiarity with Title 24 compliance is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (required).
  • AGi software experience is a plus.
  • EIT license is a plus.
  • Association with IES/IEEE is a plus.
