Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Construction Design Team in Houston, TX on an onsite basis. The role focuses on facility-wide electrical construction deliverables, from concepts through construction, partnering with operations, maintenance, and cross-functional engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of industrial electrical design experience, strong knowledge of 5kV and 480V systems, NEC/NFPA standards, and proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop facility-wide electrical construction deliverables (one-line, three-line diagrams, motor starters, VFDs)
• Collaborate with construction, facilities, operations, and maintenance teams
• Interpret NFPA-70 (NEC) standards for low- and medium-voltage power systems
• Manage EPC firms through design, execution and handover
• Resolve RFIs and support design changes during construction
• Develop and maintain site electrical design standards and compliance

On site 5x a week in Houston, TX | 12-Month Contract to Hire | 85-95/hr

Insight Global is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Construction Design Team in Houston. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in industrial and manufacturing power systems design who enjoys owning projects from concept through construction and partnering closely with operations, maintenance, and cross-functional engineering teams.

What You'll Do

Design and develop facility-wide electrical construction deliverables, including:

• One-line and three-line diagrams
• Motor starter and VFD schematics
• Busway and cable tray systems
• Grounding and lighting designs
• Collaborate with construction, facilities, operations, and maintenance teams to deliver reliable, maintainable, and operable electrical systems
• Interpret and apply NFPA-70 (NEC) standards for low- and medium-voltage power systems
• Manage EPC firms throughout design, execution, and project handover
• Resolve RFIs and support design changes during construction
• Develop and maintain site electrical design standards while ensuring compliance with industry codes and best practices

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

5+ years of industrial electrical design experience in:

• Manufacturing
• Chemical plants
• Refining
• Heavy industrial facilities

Strong experience with:

• 5kV and 480V power systems
• Industrial facility electrical infrastructure
• Electrical maintenance and safety standards

Working knowledge of:

• NFPA 70 (NEC)
• NFPA 70E
• IEEE 1584
• NFPA 497

Proficiency with:

• Revit
• AutoCAD

Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior engineers while thriving in a fast-paced environment
