Job summary

Osborn Engineering seeks a Department Manager for the Michigan Region Electrical Engineering group to lead a multi-disciplinary team of professionals. This role reports to the Director of Electrical Engineering and focuses on project leadership, resource planning, and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in electrical design and consulting, strong NEC and NFPA knowledge, and proven staff development. PE license preferred.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience in electrical design and project management in consulting engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, State Energy Code, NFPA guidelines, and FGI Guidelines.
  • Experience with electrical system studies such as short circuit, over-current device coordination, and Arc Flash Hazard analysis per NFPA 70E.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; PE license preferred.
  • Ability to manage several project teams concurrently and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Managers throughout the company to provide appropriate resources to successfully execute projects.
  • Establish discipline specific work plans and estimates to complete for department staff assigned projects
  • Oversee the production of work product consistent with client requirements and Osborn standards.
  • Supervise efficient execution of projects and staff to meet the performance metrics and goals of the department.
  • Manage expectations and communications with clients for projects providing engineering and technical support.
  • Execute Osborn's QA/QC process for the Electrical discipline on projects.
  • Maintain backlogs and manpower forecasts to ensure proper staffing levels and department utilization.
  • Perform staff resource management and annual reviews including Timesheet and Expense report approvals.
  • Assist Human Resources on recruitment and training efforts.
  • Conduct business development activities, participating in various trade organizations, and preparing or assisting with presentations.

Osborn Engineering is seeking a Department Manager with 10+ years of experience to manage the Michigan Region Electrical Engineering group. This position will report to the Director of Electrical Engineering. The ideal candidate would have team and client management experience in a consulting engineering environment.

Position Responsibilities

Job Requirements/Qualifications
  • 10+ Years' experience in electrical design and project management in consulting engineering
  • Working knowledge of design and analysis software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, Easy power.
  • Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), State Energy Code, NFPA guidelines, and FGI Guidelines.
  • Experience with electrical system studies such as short circuit, over-current device coordination, and Arc Flash Hazard analysis per NFPA 70E.
  • Strong ability to instruct staff in project management, project communications, and client management.
  • Proficient knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
  • Strong ability to manage several project teams concurrently.
  • Strong ability to promote department staff career growth, technically and professionally.
  • Experience in designing Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Preferred.
  • PE License Preferred.
