Alltek Staffing is seeking an experienced Electrical Department Head for a direct hire position in Pittsburgh, PA. The successful candidate will provide supervision, guidance, and technical oversight for projects while managing a team and ensuring cost-effective utilization of staff.

The ideal applicant holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and preferably a P.E. Certification, with a minimum of eight years in the engineering field. Benefits include healthcare, PTO, and 401k options.

AllTek Staffing has partnered with a local engineering consulting firm to help add a new Electrical Department Head to their team. The reason for the opening is a team member is retiring.

Job Details: This is a direct hire role. Benefits include healthcare, PTO, and 401k options.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervision and guidance related to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
• Determines technical and professional staffing needs – hires, manages, and motivates personnel.
• Provides work assignments and reviews performance to ensure the efficient, cost‑effective utilization of staff.
• Performs performance reviews.
• Serves as a technical advisor, providing senior‑level input and evaluation on projects.
• Establishes and maintains quality and accuracy standards.
• Provides technical oversight of electrical aspects of all in‑house projects to the extent required by the project scope or necessary for corporate risk management.
• Develops staff in their technical knowledge, verbal and visual presentation skills, awareness of the firm’s capabilities, experience and the confidential nature of some projects.
• Assists with management and preparation of proposals and presentations for new business opportunities.
• Prepares studies, due diligence reviews, capital cost estimates, and design documents from concept through construction completion.
• Shows knowledge of medium‑voltage equipment and distributions.
• Oversees development of electrical specifications, including electrical construction work specifications.
• Performs advanced electrical calculations for system design per NEC or other specified job standards.
• These calculations may require the use of department or vendor software packages.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
