Electrical & Controls Technician – Devault, PA
Beyond Meat is looking for an Electrical & Controls Technician to support the Engineering Department on capital projects, system reliability, and maintenance operations at its Devault, PA plant.
Responsibilities
- Design, install, commission and validate new equipment, including panel wiring, I/O checkout, system validation and startup support.
- Improve existing systems through modifications to HMIs and PLC ladder logic to enhance reliability, safety, and performance.
- Develop and implement minor automation enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis on recurring electrical and controls failures and implement corrective actions.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and one‑line diagrams to troubleshoot PLC‑controlled equipment and power distribution systems.
- Diagnose and resolve system issues via PLC programming updates, HMI configuration changes, instrumentation adjustments, and electrical modifications.
- Configure and troubleshoot networked industrial devices using Ethernet/IP and related protocols.
- Source, install, configure and calibrate instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level, etc.) to support plant operations and process accuracy.
- Maintain and update electrical documentation, panel schedules, network layouts, and control system backups using AutoCAD and related software.
- Support capital project execution by coordinating timelines, materials and contractor activities, and inspecting contractor work for compliance with engineering specifications and safety standards.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support to maintenance teams for electrical and controls‑related breakdowns.
- Execute and improve preventative and predictive maintenance programs for electrical and automation systems.
- Assist in developing equipment reliability strategies to reduce downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
- Support spare parts identification, inventory optimization and critical component tracking for automation systems.
- Respond to emergency troubleshooting calls and provide after‑hours support as required.
- Train maintenance personnel and equipment operators on controls systems, troubleshooting techniques and safe equipment operation.
- Contribute to standard operating procedures related to controls systems and equipment functionality.
- Support validation and testing activities for new or modified systems.
- Ensure all electrical and controls work complies with applicable codes, standards and company policies, including GMP and safety audits.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, calibration and system modifications.
Qualifications
- Formal certification in electrical trade or minimum 7years in an automation or controls engineering role.
- Minimum 3years of experience in wiring, troubleshooting and development of controls systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, ladder logic modifications, FactoryTalk View ME, Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, RSLinx and Microsoft Office.
- Strong AutoCAD skills and working knowledge of Ethernet/IP protocol.
- Proficient with electrical test equipment including digital multimeters, insulation testers and thermocouple calibrators.
- Knowledge of Ignition, SQL, Python, Visual Basic is a plus.
- Ability to work some weekends and respond to field emergency phone calls.
- Self‑starter capable of handling multiple tasks and communicating clearly across the organization.
Work Environment
Warehouse and production manufacturing environment with both tempered and ambient areas. Requires standing or sitting for prolonged periods, lifting up to 50lbs, working in temperatures ranging from –10°F to 40°F, and exposure to cold, loud noise, odors and dust.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate commensurate with experience. Base pay range USD$33.00–$40.00 per hour, subject to change. Eligible for bonus and benefits.
