Job summary

Electrical Automation Services is hiring a Controls Technician for a large commercial bakery in Swedesboro, NJ. This on-site role requires working 1st or 2nd shifts, with occasional weekends, to maintain and optimize plant electrical, automation, and process control systems on high-speed production lines.

You will lead troubleshooting, perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PLCs, drives, networks, and documentation, and provide technical leadership across Electro-Mechanics teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive industrial controls or electrical maintenance experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, prints, and P&IDs.
• Proficiency with PLCs and control software across multiple vendors.

Job description

Location: This position is on-site in Swedesboro, NJ. Please apply only if you live within 37 miles of Swedesboro.

Location: Swedesboro, NJ 08085

Pay: $45–$46/hr, plus a $1.50/hr shift differential for 2nd shift.

Shifts: 1st shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) and 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM) available. Weekend availability is required as production needs dictate.

We're hiring Controls Technicians for a large commercial bakery in Swedesboro, NJ. You'll maintain, troubleshoot and optimize plant-wide electrical, automation and process control systems on high-speed food production lines, and you'll provide technical leadership and training to Electro-Mechanics across all shifts.

What You'll Do

• Maintain and optimize plant electrical, automation, and process control systems to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical and controls-related equipment failures.
• Train and coordinate Electro-Mechanics across all shifts.
• Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for PLCs, drives, networks, and production equipment.
• Maintain electrical schematics, control programs, system configurations, and equipment documentation.
• Support plant utility systems including steam, refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air, water, and power distribution.
• Follow GMP, safety, quality, and regulatory standards and drive continuous improvement.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent with extensive industrial controls, automation, or electrical maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of machine layouts, control drawings, P&IDs, system interconnection drawings, and distributed control systems.
• Proficiency with Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), Siemens, and Mitsubishi programming, configuration, and troubleshooting software.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, work orders, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
• Valid driver's license.

Nice to Have

• Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Machine design, control system installation, commissioning, and startup experience.
• Food, bakery, CPG, or continuous process manufacturing experience.
• CMMS experience.
• Knowledge of industrial networking, AC/DC drives, servo systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
