Job summary

nVent is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects in Anoka, Minnesota. You will work with mentors and a global team to grow your skills while contributing to product development and engineering analyses.

You will gain exposure to leadership, structured learning opportunities, ERG participation, and pathways to future internships or full-time roles within a diverse, inclusive organization.

  • Defines all aspects of product characteristics to meet specifications.
  • Establishes and coordinates development schedule.
  • Supports sales and service field activities.
  • Interns and Co-ops are paid hourly for time worked.
  • Relocation and housing support is available for eligible candidates.
  • Interns and Co-ops receive paid time off, paid sick time, paid volunteer time, and paid holidays.

What You Will Experience in this Position

Your experience as an Engineering Intern goes beyond the day-to-day of your role. In addition to the support of your manager, you can expect to grow and develop through exposure to leadership, engaging in development opportunities, and networking with other early career professionals.

Training & Development: Training and development is provided throughout your internship through on-the-job experiences and structured learning opportunities, fostering the development of business acumen and leadership skills at a global organization.

Community: Join a community of other early career professionals as you launch your career. A peer-led committee helps to organize social, professional and service-related activities and events for interns and early career professionals. You will also be invited to join our Employee Resource Groups (ERG's) which offer special events, networking, professional development and volunteer opportunities throughout the year to promote inclusion and respect and to help us embrace our diversity.

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will:

Location: The Electrical Engineering Internship is located in Anoka, Minnesota

YOU HAVE:
Required Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Graduating between May 2027 and May 2028 (Juniors and Seniors preferred)
  • Authorized to work in the United States without restrictions now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge in electronics & electrical engineering.
  • Basic knowledge in analog power management a plus.
  • Basic knowledge in Digital Signal Processors a plus.
  • Basic knowledge in processor controlled data acquisition and device control a plus.
  • Basic knowledge in PADs or other schematic / PCB layout systems a plus.
  • Basic knowledge in thermodynamics and heat transfer a plus.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply these concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret schematics, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the technical strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
