Job summary

Software Placement Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer in Mobile, AL to lead PLC-based control systems, maintain DCS/SCADA/HMI, and drive capital projects from concept through startup.

You will troubleshoot complex electrical and automation issues, read schematics and P&IDs, and work closely with Operations and Maintenance to improve reliability and plant uptime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10+ years of industrial electrical/controls experience.
• Strong hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Experience with ControlLogix and/or Siemens S7/TIA Portal.
• Experience with DCS, SCADA/HMI and industrial instrumentation.
• Knowledge of MCCs, VFDs, transformers and switchgear.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, one-line drawings and P&IDs.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Program, troubleshoot, modify, and optimize PLC-based control systems.
• Support and maintain DCS, SCADA and HMI systems used to control and monitor manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical, controls, instrumentation, and automation problems and perform root-cause analysis.
• Support industrial instrumentation, control valves, process loops, interlocks, alarms, and sequence controls.
• Configure and troubleshoot industrial networks and communications (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, OPC).
• Lead capital projects from initial concept and cost estimates through design, equipment selection, installation, commissioning and startup.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs, electrical one-lines, schematics and control documentation.
• Coordinate equipment vendors, contractors and outside technical resources.
• Partner closely with Operations and Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and plant uptime.
