Job summary
IES is seeking a controls engineer to join our industrial controls and systems integration team in Montgomery, AL. You will design, program, test, and commission industrial control systems across manufacturing, automotive, pulp and paper, chemical, food and beverage, and wood products sectors, with support from seasoned engineers.
The role requires a BS in electrical/mechanical/mechatronics/automation or related field and 3–5 years of hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, automation, or related engineering with controls experience.
- 3–5 years of controls engineering experience with hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Experience developing and troubleshooting PLC programs, HMI apps, and control hardware.
- Knowledge of industrial Ethernet networks, motor controls, VFDs, and electrical components.
Responsibilities
- Design and programming of electrical control systems and panels.
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs and HMI applications.
- Configure industrial networks, VFDs, motor starters, and servo systems.
- Support installation, I/O checkout, commissioning, and customer startup activities.
- Manage tasks and small projects, report progress, and flag issues with senior engineers.
