Job summary

System One is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer in Kansas City, MO, full-time. The role involves developing electrical control system designs, including hardware, software, and documentation, and traveling to job sites for startup and coordination with field teams and subcontractors.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on AutoCAD and PLC programming experience, the ability to work independently, and strong collaboration skills to ensure full system integration and compliance with safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Engineering or related discipline).
• Strong ability to interpret specifications, drawings, and design documents.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, PLC programming, and industrial control systems.
• Able to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• Comfortable working in industrial plant environments and complying with site safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Gather and interpret customer requirements, design criteria, and functional specifications.
• Develop detailed electrical control system designs, including hardware, software, and configuration documentation.
• Produce AutoCAD drawings, PLC code, system plans, and operational data.
• Coordinate material purchasing for fabrication and installation.
• Review and oversee subcontractor work related to control design and field wiring.
• Assist in creating project schedules for the electrical scope of work.
• Travel to job sites for coordination meetings, installation support, debugging, startup, and standby.
• Maintain and archive project files, drawings, and software upon project completion.
