Job summary

PMI Kyoto Packaging Systems is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our Elk Grove Village office. You will manage a broad range of duties from project management and design to manufacturing oversight, collaborating with mechanical engineers and supporting customers across the United States.

Requirements include 5+ years with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMI work, AutoCAD, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

PMI Kyoto Packaging Systems is looking for an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team in our Elk Grove Village office!

Responsibilities:

• Select components and layout electrical control panels
• Select sensors and pneumatic control components
• Understand the UL508A and NEC for control system design
• Write, modify, and debug PLCs, HMIs and Kinetix servo motion control programs
• Create electrical schematics, bill of material based on, but not limited to, the instructions given
• Be proficient in every control aspect from budgeting time, cost control, choosing quality and reliable product
• Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Assist in the development of standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed within the department
• Read and interpret customer specifications
• Modify and create machine electrical schematics
• Possess good logical code writing, debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Work closely and collaborate work with Mechanical Engineering members
• Work closely under management directions but not limited to achieve own decisions in making process more efficient, within budget and on time
• Communicate over phone with customers to assist in troubleshooting installed systems
• Travel to customer sites for system installation, modifications, and all aftermarket electrical controls needs
• Train and work closely with entry level Electrical Controls Engineers

Requirements:

• More than 5 years of experience in Allen-Bradley PLC’s, HMI’s, AutoCAD
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
• Experienced with electrical/controls aspect of machine design, has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
• Literate using AutoCAD for all electrical design purposes
• Familiar with selection and use of commercial products like photo sensors, pneumatics, vision systems, hot melt systems, etc.
• Proficient in PLC code and motion controls
• Understanding of—or ability to learn—industrial writing concepts
• Understanding of machine timing concepts
• Experience electrical schematic software (AutoCad light, SolidWorks Electrical is a plus)
• Exposure to and interest in PLC and HMI programming, multi-axes coordinated motion control
• Good electro-mechanical skills and understanding
• Interest in hands-on machine work with sensor and actuator adjustments
• Strong organizational and communicational skills
