Job summary

REEL Aluminium, based in Burlington, Ontario, seeks an Electrical Controls Designer/Technician to design and develop safe, reliable control systems for REEL equipment. You will work with Project Engineers and Mechanical Designers to translate customer needs into practical electrical solutions and ensure compliance with applicable standards.

The role requires ~5 years of experience, an Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and travel to

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in electrical controls design or industrial automation.
• Strong understanding of electrical concepts, controls design, codes and standards.
• Experience in an industrial environment; exposure to automated equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical control systems for REEL equipment in collaboration with Project Engineers and Mechanical Designers.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications and translate requirements into practical electrical solutions.
• Coordinate with other Electrical Designers and external integrators for seamless system integration on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Select and source electrical components that balance performance, reliability and cost.
• Support equipment testing prior to delivery and assist with troubleshooting.
• Perform on-site commissioning and resolve technical issues in the field.
• Maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and application specialists throughout projects.
