Job summary

MCS Automation in Wall Township, NJ seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to own the complete electrical design scope for control system projects from concept to documentation, collaborating with project managers, mechanical engineers, panel fabricators and purchasing.

This on-site/hybrid role requires expert AutoCAD Electrical skills, a deep knowledge of UL 508A and NEC, and a commitment to thorough, self-verified work on conveyor and material handling systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with professional experience considered.
• 3–7 years of electrical design for industrial automation or material handling control systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for schematic design, BOM generation, and project file management.
• Solid understanding of low-voltage power distribution and NEC/NFPA 70 codes.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and existing electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete electrical design packages including power distribution diagrams and motor control schematics.
• Design control panel layouts and enclosure configurations per UL 508A, NEC, and NFPA 79.
• Produce self-verified schematics and panel drawings for fabricators and field teams.
• Create and maintain drawing numbering, revision control, and project drawing registers.
• Size and select PLCs, VFDs, motor starters, safety relays, sensors, and other field devices.
• Develop detailed BOMs and coordinate with purchasing on procurement and lead times.
• Produce UL 508A panel design packages for third-party fabrication.
• Lead electrical design on projects and support RFIs and design reviews.
