Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager 1 to oversee small electrical construction projects or parts of larger ones. You will assist the Superintendent, develop a CPM schedule in Primavera, and coordinate kickoff meetings while forecasting cash flow and manpower needs.

The role requires a BS with 7+ years (or 5+ years with MS) in engineering/science and a proven PM track record across multi-discipline projects. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or Physics with 7+ years experience or 5+ years with a MS degree.
  • Experience supervising Construction Project Managers and performing PM duties on construction projects.
  • Extensive project management experience managing teams and monitoring multiple projects.
  • Experience with up-front involvement with engineering firms, the client, and General Contractors.
  • Proven track record of successful projects across multi-discipline knowledge (Fire Alarm, Communications, Security, AV, Power, Instrumentation).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.
  • Able to work in a diverse environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking to evaluate options and directions.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Change facilitation and effective communication.
  • Able to think abstractly for short and long term planning.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the project Superintendent in the preparation of project documentation requirements, project layout, and field office support.
  • Developing a resource loaded CPM schedule with time scale logic in Primavera scheduling software.
  • Coordinating and running a project kick-off meeting (PKOM).
  • Forecasting cash flow and manpower needs for projects.
  • Reading and interpreting blue prints and project specifications.
  • Developing a budget and cost codes for a project and assigning costs and manpower to the schedule.
  • Researching and compiling submittals, pricing change orders and preparing estimates for designed projects.
  • Meeting with potential customers to present proposals.
  • Understanding and following bid procedures and bid forms.
  • Coordinating the acquisition of major materials, monitoring tool and equipment requirements with the project Superintendent and the warehouse.
  • Acquiring all required permits and licenses and ensuring inspections are handled timely.
  • Overall financial management of the project(s) and profitability.
  • Expediting all change orders.
  • Ensuring timely completion including punch-lists and as-built drawings and maintenance manuals.
  • Monitoring progress and preparing monthly reports on budget, schedule, cash flow and manpower forecasts.
  • Identifying cost-saving measures and quality improvements.
  • Ensuring KPIs are complete and accurate.
  • Developing a detailed equipment plan.
