Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer Intern to support the project team from estimating through startup. You will participate in project meetings, draft procedures, and assist onsite with commissioning milestones while coordinating with SMEs for specialized technologies.

Expect travel and rotations between field and office as required. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and hands-on involvement in electrical equipment testing, energization planning, and startup activities

Qualifications

Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
3.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
Committed to safety in the workplace.
Ability to access construction sites and work in varied environments.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Assist with Design Review for Power, Power Delivery, and Renewable Projects.
Attend Factory Acceptance Tests for Electrical Equipment (MV, LV Switchgears, Transformers, Relay Panels).
Develop Electrical Initial Energization Procedures (Switchyard, Back-feed, Switchgears, Initial Synch).
Travel to project site for short durations to carry out audits and assist energization efforts.
Collaborate with project start-up teams on onsite activities as needed.
Familiarity with testing and commissioning of 220KV/345KV breakers, generators, MV/LV switchgear, MCCs.
