Job summary

The City of Lubbock is seeking an Electrical Inspector to verify compliance with city ordinances and the National Electrical Code. The role involves inspecting electrical wiring, fixtures, and appliances inside buildings, answering code questions, and documenting inspections.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and relevant electrical licenses or ICC certification with the ability to obtain additional licenses within two years.

Qualifications

• Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent.
• Bachelor degree in electrical engineering may substitute for the required license.
• ICC certification as an electrical inspector, or ability to obtain within one year.
• Valid driver’s license and electrical licensing options listed in guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical installations for conformance to city/state codes and the NEC.
• Answer questions and provide information on local, state and national codes.
• Suggest desirable changes in electrical damages and inspect for fire damage.
• Explain code requirements to electrical contractors.
• Keep records of inspections and prepare reports.
• Perform related duties as directed.
