Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking a Code Compliance Officer/Electrical Inspector in the Development Services Department. The role requires performing on-site inspections across electrical, building, fire, mechanical, plumbing, zoning, signs and property maintenance, and issuing notices of violation with follow-up inspections.

Candidates must have five years of electrical construction experience, ICC certifications, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in electrical construction trades or supervision.
• ICC certifications required: Residential Electrical Inspector; Residential Plans Examiner; Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner; Commercial Electrical Inspector; Electrical Plans Examiner within specified timeframes.
• Valid driver’s license; pass pre-hire requirements (physical, drug screen, background).

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site inspections for electrical, building, fire and related systems.
• Issue violations, notices and conduct re-inspections as needed.
• Review permit applications for code conformance and assist plan review where required.
• Interpret and enforce applicable codes and ordinances across disciplines.
• Maintain records, testify in court when required.
