Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services, seeks a CAD Technician for drafting duties in medium/high voltage substations or transmission line drawings at its Austin office. You will be closely supervised while developing skills in drafting techniques, standards, and documentation processes.

Based in Austin, TX, the role reports to the Design Supervisor. Career levels I–III may apply depending on experience. Weekend work and travel may be required periodically.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in drafting and design or comparable field is required.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required.
• Experience utilizing MicroStation, Inventor, Revit, or 3D CADD is preferred.
• Basic drafting including drawing scales, layouts (Paperspace/Modelspace), and accurately reproducing engineering markups.
• Experience using CADD, word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
• Ability to accept direction/corrections when provided with constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise CADD drawings per engineering markups.
• Perform engineering support tasks under direct supervision.
• Learn and apply the corporate/client standard of drafting and engineering practices.
• Learn and properly use document management systems.
• Take personal responsibility for the quality of his/her work.
• Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
• Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.
