Job summary

PacifiCorp seeks a Design Specialist to draft construction drawings and develop BOMs for electrical facilities in Portland, OR. You will create layouts, wiring diagrams, and three-dimensional models, collaborating with field and office personnel to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.

The role supports multiple levels of design specialists, with opportunities to guide junior staff and contribute to complex projects within the Power Delivery department.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of engineering principles as well as basic knowledge of electrical substations, generating facilities, and protection and control schemes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• General knowledge of engineering standards/guidelines and drawings, established drafting and design techniques.
• Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds.
• Ability to interact with personnel (field and office) to obtain information.
• Ability to create material lists from a drawing for engineering approval.

Responsibilities

• Perform drafting utilizing established engineering guidelines and standards.
• Draft construction drawings from engineering sketches, field mark-ups, and other information utilizing manual or automated methods.
• Select and apply drawing techniques and layouts in accordance with established procedures and standards.
• Prepare preliminary drawings for engineering approval.
• Develop bill of materials from engineering drawings.
• Draft plans, elevations and details for structures, installations, and other projects.
• Draw maps, diagrams, and profiles.
• Produce drawings using computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD).
• Prepare construction drawings utilizing established engineering guidelines, specifications, and standards.
• Prepare wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and panel designs.
• Prepare the physical layouts, including general plans and elevations, grounding plans, cable and conduit plans, and construction specifications.
