Job summary

Southern California Edison is seeking a Design/Drafting Specialist to deliver electrical designs from concept through execution at the Antelope Valley Service Center in California. The role emphasizes high-quality drawings, CAD standards, and collaboration with engineering teams within a hybrid work arrangement.

You will develop single line diagrams and schematics, review deliverables, mentor junior designers, and support safety, reliability, and process improvements across projects.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of experience creating detailed design drawings or schematics using CAD/CAE tools.
• Experience with electrical design or substations is a plus.
• Ability to follow CAD standards and document design decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering teams to define scope, analyze alternatives, and prepare designs with CAD/DM.
• Determine CAD usage and file setup on projects.
• Support design, operation, safety, and maintenance improvements for assigned systems.
• Draw physical, schematic, and wiring diagrams using Substation standards and symbols.
• Assign projects to contractors, validate labor hours, and review deliverables; produce diagrams with CAD/DM.
• Consult with Substation Engineers to prepare drawings and modifications; support larger residential/commercial projects.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior designers.
• Lead meetings with designers on standards and issues; assist planners on site walks.
• Provide SME support for process and technology projects in documentation, testing, training, and stabilization sessions.
• Protect company assets and manage data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
