Job summary

Portland General Electric seeks Electrical Plant Designers (P2/P1) to deliver professional electrical design and on-site support at our power plants and switchyards. You will apply design practices, prepare drawings with AutoCAD, and manage as-built updates to support safe, reliable operations.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or related field and 2+ years in electrical design or drafting, plus a valid driver’s license for travel to facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or related field or equivalent experience.
• Typically two or more years in electrical design, drafting or related field.
• Preferred knowledge of Schematics & Wiring Diagrams for Station Service, HV Protective Relaying and Control Systems.
• Valid Driver's License required; travel to various generation facilities.

Responsibilities

• Design work: provide professional-level electrical design knowledge and on-site support at plants and switchyards; assist engineers with moderately complex designs.
• Design practices: apply guidelines, use design technology resources, provide drafting for design and as-built projects; manage drawing modifications.
• Design drawings: convert designs and data into drawings and sketches with clear conveyance of concepts.
• As-built packages: create and check packages; perform field verifications and update documentation.
• Engineering principles, codes and standards: ensure compliance with requirements and company standards.
• On-site support: provide field support and update drawings to guide construction personnel.
