Job summary

Bay Systems Consulting, Inc. (BSC) seeks an experienced Electrical CAD Designer for the ALS-U project at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

This hybrid, 1-year contract position focuses on detailed electrical designs, schematics, models, and manufacturing-ready documentation, collaborating with engineers and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate has strong CAD skills (AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, KiCad) and a proven track record delivering compliant, revision-controlled drawings and BOMs

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience producing electrical CAD designs.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, KiCad, or equivalent.
• Experience creating manufacturing-ready electrical documentation (schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, panel layouts).
• Experience maintaining revision-controlled docs in PLM/PDM systems.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and applicable codes.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain electrical CAD models, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using project-approved CAD software.
• Develop detailed, manufacturing-ready electrical documentation to support fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation.
• Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), wire lists, cable schedules, and related engineering documentation.
• Review designs and incorporate engineering feedback and approved changes.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers, project managers, and manufacturing personnel.
• Support integration of electrical and mechanical designs and assemblies.
• Participate in design reviews and maintain organized CAD files and revision-controlled docs.
• Work within Windchill, PLM/PDM systems and related document-control systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and project requirements.
