Job summary

San Francisco Chamber is seeking an experienced Electrical CAD Designer for the ALS-U project at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This onsite, 1-year contract in Berkeley, CA requires creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and manufacturing-ready documentation for complex scientific equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience producing electrical CAD designs.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD Electrical, KiCad, or similar CAD software.
• Experience developing manufacturing-ready electrical documentation (schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, cable schedules).
• Experience with PLM/PDM systems and revision-controlled documentation.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and wiring practices.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain electrical models, wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts using project-approved CAD software.
• Revise designs based on engineering feedback, design reviews, and approved engineering changes.
• Generate bills of materials (BOMs), wire and cable schedules, and supporting manufacturing documentation.
• Prepare documentation for fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing activities.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technical stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and coordination meetings.
• Maintain organized, revision-controlled engineering documentation within Windchill or other designated systems.
• Ensure work complies with applicable engineering standards, codes, and quality requirements.
