Job summary

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering in Lenexa, KS is seeking an Electrical CAD Design Intern for the Lenexa, KS office. We are looking for ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while contributing to project success.

Candidates shall be familiar with current drawing and technical tools and have an understanding of design documentation creation and layouts.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Associate/Bachelor’s in Design & Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology or related degree.
• Basic experience with 3D programs such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, AutoCAD MEP, or Navisworks.
• Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment.
• Must communicate via email and use electronic meeting requests.
• Working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and PDF software.
• Represent Kiewit to owners, contractors, vendors and others outside the organization.

Responsibilities

• Reports project progression updates to Lead Electrical Designers.
• Develops 3D models and checks for interferences and constructability.
• Creates plan drawings and details for electrical deliverables.
• Develops sketches to accompany other concept documentation.
• Develops schematics and one-line drawings from sketches or markups.
• Maintains master drawing set with current revisions for electrical/controls design.
• Files master sets and superseded drawings as required.
• Completes as-built using RFIs and ECNs for conformed records.
• Participates in project meetings as required.
• Routes electrical cables to generate a cable schedule.
• Models electrical components using vendor submittals.
• Performs miscellaneous tasks to support project development.
