Job summary

Hatzel & Buehler Inc is seeking a motivated BIM/VDC Design Intern to assist the design team with developing and coordinating 3D models for electrical construction projects. This summer internship offers hands-on exposure to BIM tools, coordination, clash detection, and prefabrication planning under experienced designers.

You will learn to deliver projects within scope, schedule, and budget while collaborating with designers, engineers, and field teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in a related field (Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture).
• Basic familiarity with BIM software such as Revit or Navisworks preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and maintaining coordinated 3D BIM models representing electrical systems and components.
• Support layout and positioning of electrical equipment, conduit, and raceways from drawings and specs.
• Perform model quality checks for accuracy, completeness, and standards compliance.
• Update models and maintain revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support development of models for prefabrication purposes.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.
• Participate in coordination meetings and help resolve design conflicts.
• Assist with tracking project progress to ensure on-time deliverables.
• Review project scope and requirements.
