CEC Companies in Irving, TX is seeking a Detailer to support 3D coordination and shop drawings for large commercial projects.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year using Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks, plus 3 years of field trade experience. You will collaborate with PMs, field teams and designers to produce accurate drawings and BOQs.

Proficiency with BIM 360 and Bluebeam is a plus, and the role requires safety awareness and ability to work on-site as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks.
  • At least 3 years of field installation trade experience.

Responsibilities

  • Generate construction drawings using CADD for large commercial projects.
  • Review drawings for conflicts with architectural/structural docs and codes.
  • Coordinate drawings with trades and resolve RFIs with PM team.
  • Attend coordination meetings on site or at offices.
  • Develop BOQs and routing schedules.
  • Perform site surveys and field measurements as needed.
  • Maintain logs for RFIs, transmittals, drawings.

The Detailer participates, as directed by the supervisor, in any modeling efforts for 3D coordination and shop drawings for educational, institutional, commercial projects. The ideal Detailer should be self-driven, resourceful and detail oriented to manage a high level of quality and service. Organizational skills, flexibility and critical thinking are necessary traits.Coordinates drawings with other trades and works closely with assigned Project Managers, construction supervision, field personnel, vendors and design engineers. Reports to a Senior Lead BIM Coordinator. Work is usually reviewed for accuracy by the Lead BIM Coordinator, Senior Lead BIM Coordinator, construction supervisor and/or the BIM Coordination Manger.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generates construction and fabrication drawings using CADD equipment and peripherals for a variety of large complex commercial and industrial projects.
  • Reviews construction drawings for apparent conflicts with architectural and structural contract documents and to ensure compliance with local code requirements.
  • Works closely with project management team for resolution of issues identified during reviews through the Request For Information (RFI) process.
  • Coordinates draft construction drawings with other trades to ensure routings and clearances are understood and no obstructions exist.
  • Working with other trades and coordinating each trades layout specification.
  • Attending coordination meetings at jobsite and/or offices
  • Partnering with project Superintendents and Project manager to complete tasks as assigned and needed.
  • Performs site surveys and field measurement work as needed to support the conceptual and design drawing effort.
  • Reviews submittal documents for accuracy.
  • Maintains logs as needed for RFIs, transmittals, and drawings.
  • Identifies and resolves issues with clients, architects, engineers, building owners and vendors related to construction drawings and drawings of record.
  • Development of Bill of Quantities (BOQs)
  • Development of Routing Schedules
  • Working knowledge of BIM field tools. i.e. BIM 360 on tablets
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective completion of projects.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • One year Revit and Auto CAD, and Navisworks
  • Should have a minimum of three (3) years trade experience in field installation with a solid skill level

  • Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam.
  • Strong Computer skills and aptitude for learning

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This job may work inside or outside with possible exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures and weather elements in restricted or confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces. This job may have exposure to working on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other exposures typical of heavy construction. This job also operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing reaching, bending crawling, standing, or stretching.
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Move about on the feet regularly. Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • May require travel.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Talk and hear, ability to communicate with others both written and orally and by telephone.
  • Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Possesses good hearing, normal or corrected.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest), as needed.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
  • Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
