Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree in construction management, engineering, drafting, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
• 1–3 years of electrical construction detailing, BIM/VDC, or field operations experience preferred.
• Experience on data center, mission critical, or large commercial/industrial electrical projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical drawings, specs and models to ensure constructability and completeness.
• Create detailed installation drawings, layouts, and constructability details for field use.
• Identify constructability issues and coordinate with project teams to resolve them.
• Coordinate with BIM/VDC teams to ensure models reflect installation requirements and field conditions.

Position Summary

The Constructability Detailer is responsible for reviewing electrical construction documents and developing detailed installation drawings that support efficient and accurate field execution. This role ensures designs are constructible, coordinated, and aligned with field conditions, company installation standards, and project requirements. The Constructability Detailer works closely with BIM/VDC, Engineering, Preconstruction, Project Management, and Field Operations to identify potential conflicts, improve installation efficiency, and support successful project delivery. This role plays a critical part in bridging design intent and field execution by translating construction documents into clear, actionable installation details. This is a safety sensitive position.

Key Responsibilities

• Review electrical construction drawings, specifications, and models to ensure constructability and completeness.
• Develop detailed installation drawings, layouts, and constructability details for field use.
• Identify constructability issues, conflicts, or inefficiencies and work with project teams to resolve them.
• Coordinate with BIM/VDC teams to ensure models reflect installation requirements and field conditions.
• Support the development of detailed plans for conduit routing, equipment installation, cable pathways, supports, and electrical room layouts.
• Ensure installation details comply with project specifications, electrical codes, and company standards.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to incorporate field input into detailing and constructability solutions.
• Participate in coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders as needed.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to improve installation efficiency, reduce labor impacts, and mitigate project risks.
• Support field teams by responding to constructability questions and providing clarification on installation details.
• Maintain organized documentation and revision control of drawings and constructability deliverables.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective completion of projects.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Drafting, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
• 1-3 years of experience in electrical construction, detailing, BIM/VDC, or field operations.
• Experience supporting data center, mission critical, or large commercial/industrial electrical projects preferred.
• Field experience as an electrician or field engineer is a strong plus.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, installation sequencing, and best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, specifications, and coordination models.
• Proficiency with detailing and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential constructability issues.
• Ability to work collaboratively with field teams, engineers, and project managers.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of NEC requirements and electrical installation standards.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

May work inside or outside. Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, in all-weather elements such as rain, heat, cold and snow. This position also requires work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switchgear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces; works on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, in ditches and excavations; works in and around single and multi-story buildings with all exposures typical of a heavy construction site, including portable sanitary facilities.

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead. Lift 51 pounds, routinely. Constantly move about on the feet. Climb ladders of all types. Complete full day assignments involving overhead work. Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use. Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.

Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Possess good hearing, normal or corrected. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times. Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. This position requires flexible work hours. In order to get a project completed on time, this position is often required to work overtime, weekends, and night shifts.

Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
