Job summary

Miller Electric in Richmond, VA is seeking a Point Layout Specialist to join our VDC/BIM operations. This entry‑level role creates and manages accurate field layout points from coordinated BIM models and construction drawings, supporting layout coordination and field teams.

You will export point files for robotic total station software, ensure alignment with latest models, and help maintain logs and procedures. Proficiency with Revit and ACC is a plus; a strong eye for detail is essential.

Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Proficient in Microsoft 365.
Proven work experience in a technical field.

Responsibilities

Generate layout points for sleeves, anchors, walls, inserts, equipment, and other components from Revit models.
Ensure points are based on the latest coordinated model and construction documents.
Export and format point files for use in robotic total station software.
Collaborate with VDC Specialists and BIM teams to review constructability and field access in point placement.
Maintain logs of issued points, revisions, and associated drawings.
Coordinate with Field Layout Specialists to verify point usage and field compatibility.
Follow standard operating procedures for point naming, numbering, and organization.
Conduct QA reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of point files.
