Job summary

Moog in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Electrical Assembly Technician for onsite work. You will assemble circuit cards, avionics units, and wire harnesses, performing high-reliability soldering and precise crimping on complex sub-assemblies.

Expect to operate SMT pick and place and selective solder equipment, while reading drawings and BOMs to ensure adherence to specs. Requires 8+ years in electrical assembly, expertise in soldering, crimping, and avionics-related repairs, plus familiarity with IPC

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent formal training.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in electrical assembly and soldering.
• Expertise in crimping, medical device assembly, board-level repair, and electronic units.
• Familiarity with J-STD-001 and Space Addendum, IPC 610/620 standards, and torque/crimping tools.

Responsibilities

• Assemble circuit card assemblies, avionics units, wire harnesses and test equipment.
• Perform high-reliability soldering (through hole and SMT) and crimping on sub-assemblies.
• Work with multi-pin connectors to meet government and customer specs.
• Set up and operate SMT pick and place machines.
• Set up and operate selective solder machines.
• Integrate circuit cards into avionics units and perform staking/coating.
• Interpret assembly drawings, BOMs and work instructions.
• Follow ESD protocols and maintain certification for soldering.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineering to troubleshoot.
• Maintain cleanliness and traceability documentation for controlled programs.

Our team in Space and Defense Group is looking for an Electrical Assembler to join them. You will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor and will have an onsite work schedule in Gilbert, AZ.

As An Electrical Assembler, You Will

• Assemble Circuit Card Assemblies, top level avionics units, wire harnesses, and electrical ground support and test equipment.
• Perform high-reliability soldering (through hole and surface mount) and crimping on complex sub-assemblies, circuit cards, and avionics units, including board-level repairs and jumper wire installations.
• Work with multi-pin connectors and assemblies to meet stringent government and customer specs.
• Set up and operate SMT pick and place machines.
• Set up and operate selective solder machines.
• Perform box level integration of circuit card assemblies into top level avionics units.
• Perform staking and coating operations of circuit card assemblies and top-level avionics units.
• Interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
• Follow ESD protocols and maintain certification standards for high-reliability soldering.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and design engineering to troubleshoot and rework avionics products.
• Maintain cleanliness and traceability documentation for controlled programs.

To be considered for this role, typically you’ll bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent formal training.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in electrical assembly and soldering.
• Expertise in crimping, medical device assembly, board-level repair, and electronic units.
• Familiarity with J-STD-001 and Space Addendum, IPC 610/620 standards, and torque/crimping tools.

It’s a Plus If You Have

• NASA soldering certification.
• Experience with avionics components (e.g., circuit card rework, coating, installation).
• Ability to read and work directly from engineering drawings.
• Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Salary Range Transparency

Phoenix, AZ $35.00–$42.00 Hourly
