Job summary

Moog in Torrance, CA is seeking an Assembler Technician II for the Military Aircraft Group. This on-site role on the 1st shift (6:00am-2:30pm) focuses on precision assembly and testing of hydraulic, mechanical and electromechanical actuators for flight control systems.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years in aerospace assembly, blueprint reading skills and ability to follow instructions in English.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal, written and computer work instructions in English.
  • Minimum 3 years assembly experience (mechanical, hydraulic, electromechanical or electronic).
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification is a plus.
  • FAA safety sensitive position; must meet FAA drug/alcohol testing requirements.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Aerospace assembly experience.
  • Experience performing precision assembly and test of hydraulic, mechanical and electromechanical actuators.
  • Experience with precision measuring tools (dial indicators, calipers, micrometers).
  • Basic computer program skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Possess or be able to obtain Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision assembly on complex production and repair actuators.
  • Adjust or align through shimming and mechanical adjustments as specified by blueprint or limits.
  • Use dial indicators, calipers and micrometers to meet assembly requirements.
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy using torque wrenches, fixtures and gauges.
  • Work from assembly instructions written or oral.
  • Perform tests on actuators using hydraulic, mechanical and electronic equipment.
  • Diagnose test failures and perform rework as needed.
  • Hold problem units for engineering disposition.
  • Ensure units meet revision specifications and report abnormalities.
  • Test repair models for conformance to procedures.
  • Validate test results with current procedures.
  • Order parts using RUR and WDS systems.
  • Document parts replaced and work performed on data sheets.

Our team at Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is looking for an Assembler Technician II on 1st shift (6:00am-2:30pm) to join them. You will report to the Assembly and Test Supervisor and will have an onsite work schedule in Torrance, CA. Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is a global leader in designing primary and secondary flight control actuation systems (FCAS) for military aircraft. We design and integrate FCAS systems for cutting edge aircraft like the F-35 Lightning II and the V280 Valor next generation tiltrotor Aircraft. Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Minimum 3 years or more of Assembly experience (mechanical, hydraulic, electromechanical or electronic)
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification is a plus
  • FAA Safety Sensitive position; must meet FAA's drug and alcohol testing program requirements
  • Ability to read blueprints

Responsibilities
  • Perform precision assembly on complex production and repair actuators.
  • Adjust or align through shimming and other means of mechanical adjustments specified by blueprint or other specification limits.
  • Utilize a variety of mechanical measuring equipment such as: Dial indicators, calipers and indicating micrometers to obtain proper assembly-build requirements.
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy on assemblies utilizing torque wrenches, fixtures, tooling, gages and other measuring devices.
  • Required to work from assembly instructions, both written and oral.
  • Perform various test operations on production or repair mechanical or hydraulic actuators using necessary hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic test equipment, fixtures and tools.
  • Diagnose common test failures and recommends or performs rework to' correct discrepancies.
  • Hold problem units for engineering disposition.
  • Ensure that units are set up and tested in conformance with current revision letters and brings to the Supervisor’s attention any condition that is abnormal.
  • Responsible for testing repair models for conformance to acceptance test procedures.
  • Utilize mechanical or electronic measuring equipment and perform tests to validate the acceptance of the model to current test requirements.
  • Order parts as necessary utilizing the RUR and WDS systems.
  • Responsible for proper documentation of parts replaced and work performed on data sheets.
