Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Install and route electrical wiring harnesses on new truck equipment packages.
  • Make electrical connections using appropriate connectors, terminals, splices, and related components.
  • Install lighting systems and electrical options (work lights, strobes, marker lights).
  • Install cab roof-mounted lightbars and wiring.
  • Connect electrical controls, switches, relays, modules, and junction boxes.
  • Route and secure wiring harnesses to prevent damage.
  • Terminate wires using approved crimping/stripping methods.
  • Read electrical schematics and installation drawings.
  • Perform basic electrical testing and validate operation of installed components.
  • Inspect installations for routing, workmanship and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot basic wiring/electrical issues.
  • Operate hand/power tools and other electrical assembly equipment.

Description

Responsible for installing, routing, connecting, and testing electrical systems and components on new truck equipment packages. This position installs electrical wiring harnesses, lighting systems, cab roof lightbars, controls, and other job‑specific electrical options according to drawings, schematics, work instructions, and manufacturer specifications.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working with 12V electrical systems. This role requires a focus on proper wiring practices, clean and secure harness routing, reliable electrical connections, quality workmanship, and safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and route electrical wiring harnesses on new truck equipment packages.
  • Make electrical connections using appropriate connectors, terminals, splices, and related components.
  • Install job‑specific lighting systems and electrical options, including work lights, warning lights, strobes, marker lights, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Install and connect cab roof‑mounted lightbars and associated wiring.
  • Install electrical controls, switches, relays, modules, junction boxes, and other components as specified for each truck build.
  • Route, secure, and protect wiring harnesses to prevent abrasion, pinching, excessive heat exposure, interference, and other potential damage.
  • Properly terminate wires and cables using approved crimping, stripping, and connection methods.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and work instructions.
  • Identify proper power, ground, signal, and control connections according to installation requirements.
  • Perform basic electrical testing using multimeters, test lights, and other appropriate diagnostic tools.
  • Test installed lighting, controls, and electrical accessories for proper operation.
  • Inspect completed electrical installations for proper routing, secure connections, workmanship, and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and correct basic wiring and electrical installation issues identified during assembly or testing.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, electrical crimping tools, wire strippers, multimeters, and other electrical assembly equipment as required.
  • Document completed installations and inspections using company systems and required documentation.
  • Communicate with supervisors and parts coordinators regarding missing, incorrect, or damaged electrical components.
  • Complete assigned work within established production hours while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Requirements

Preferred Education & Experience
  • 1–3+ years of experience with 12V electrical installation, automotive wiring, truck equipment, or mobile equipment.
  • Experience installing and routing automotive or truck wiring harnesses.
  • Experience installing warning lights, work lights, lightbars, and auxiliary electrical equipment.
  • Experience making weather‑resistant electrical connections in automotive or mobile equipment applications.
  • Experience with crimping, terminating, splicing, and securing electrical wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret 12V electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using a digital multimeter to verify voltage, continuity, and electrical connections.
  • Familiarity with relays, fuses, circuit protection, switches, grounds, and basic control circuits.
  • Experience with truck equipment, automotive accessories, emergency vehicles, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or similar mobile electrical systems.
  • Vocational or technical training in automotive electrical systems, electronics, diesel technology, automotive technology, or a related field.
