Job summary

Key Technology in Washington state seeks an Electrical Assembly Tech to build panels, cables, and electronic sub-assemblies. You will use engineering drawings, wire lists, and schematics, and perform self-inspections to ensure adherence to wiring standards.

Responsibilities include following work instructions, reading blueprints, and coordinating with Engineering to resolve issues. The role requires proficiency with hand tools and a focus on safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Level 1: High school diploma or GED; basic computer skills.
• Level 2: GED; 1+ year related experience or training; able to read electrical schematics.
• Level 3: GED; 3+ years related experience; able to read mechanical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical and electronic sub-assemblies using drawings, wire lists, schematics and hand tools.
• Self-inspect to ensure Key Technology quality standards are met.

Essential Responsibilities

At all times safety is a top priority while performing any part of your job. Builds electrical and electronic sub-assemblies using engineering drawings, wire lists, electrical schematics, work instructions and a variety of hand tools such as wire strippers, screw drivers, wire crimpers, wrenches, etc. Self-inspects work to ensure Key Technology quality standards are met. Assists in the creation of wire lists from schematics for experimental, prototype and/or first production run electrical equipment. Follow verbal and written instruction given by Production Supervisor. Clearly communicate any issues to Production Supervisor or Lead. Able to read and understand blueprints, work instructions and/or electrical schematics. Discusses layout and assembly procedures and/or problems with Engineering to resolve functional issues. Experienced using various hand and power tools such as wrenches, screw drivers, wire crimpers, wire strippers, etc. Able to read and follow electrical schematics and written procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Level 2

In addition to the above duties. Successfully assembles most products that are typically built in the assigned area. Reads and follows mechanical drawings and electrical schematics. Able to use the computer system to look up drawings as needed. Able to handle and assembly electrical/electronic items. Works on assemblies with minimal documentation.

Level 3

In addition to the above duties. Successfully assembles all products that are typically built in the assigned area. Performs subsystem testing and troubleshooting for products built in the assigned area. Able to provide direction and technical support for products built in the assigned area. Demonstrates a high level of problem-solving skills. Maintains and configures test fixtures and tooling used in the assigned area.

Education And/or Experience

Level 1: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and beginning computer skills. Formal classes from college, trade school or military service helpful. Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings. Ability to follow electrical schematics to wire machines and build electrical panels is a plus.

Level 2: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and beginning computer skills. Formal classes from college, trade school or military service helpful. 1 year or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read and follow engineering drawings and electrical schematics.

Level 3: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and beginning computer skills. Formal classes from college, trade school or military service helpful. 3 years or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read and follow engineering drawings and electrical schematics.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write short simple correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Abilities

Ability to solve practical problems that deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and blueprints.

Comments

All employees are required to wear eye and hearing protection at all times while in the manufacturing area. Protective clothing provided by the company is to be worn at all times such as coveralls or shop jacket unless approved by management. Either steel toed or composite shoes or boots must be worn at all times.
