Job summary

HeatTek is seeking an Electrical Assembler to perform wired assemblies from drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions. You will pull materials, install components, terminate cables, and troubleshoot circuits, with emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Expect to handle motors/transformers, basic mechanical tasks, and maintain clean work areas while meeting production schedules. A strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Trade or technical college certification and related electrical exposure preferred.
  • 1–7+ years of related experience or a combination of electrical education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work from drawings and verbal instructions to perform basic electrical assembly and wiring.
  • Identify materials from blueprints and pull from stock or job baskets.
  • Install and mount electrical components on equipment.
  • Terminate cables, route cables, and troubleshoot circuits.

Job description

Under the overall direction of and reporting to the Electrical Shop Supervisor, Electrical Assemblers take daily direction from the Electrical Team Lead. Electrical Assemblers are responsible for performing wiring and assembly operations involving intricate and precise equipment and basic electrical aspects of the assembly of all product lines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Working from drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions, perform basic skilled electrical assembly, ensuring the highest level of quality while meeting job schedule, estimated hours, and customer specifications.
  • Identify and locate correct materials from blueprints to pull from stock and/or job baskets.
  • Install and/or mount electrical components on equipment.
  • Terminate cables, troubleshoot electrical circuits, layout panels, drill and tap holes and route cables.
  • Perform motor and transformer wiring and some basic mechanical functions.
  • Select, cut, form, and install wiring in accordance with specifications.
  • May be required to perform basic electrical and gas piping.
  • Assist other departments when time allows to ensure products are completed on time.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.

  • Maintain department housekeeping standards and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
  • Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures, recommending improvements as appropriate.
  • Provide backup support to other roles within the department as required.
  • Perform various duties as requested by management.
  • Working Conditions: Frequently working near moving mechanical parts. Frequently working in high, precarious places and exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock and vibration. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Noise level in certain work environments can be loud at times. Must know how to use and wear required provided personal protective equipment (PPE) depending on environment and working conditions.
  • Physical Requirements: Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools or controls, reach above shoulders, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch, climb ladders, occasionally work on hands and knees, and occasionally required to sit. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Driving and Travel Requirements: Must maintain a valid state driver’s license, have access to reliable transportation, and carry the state minimum required auto insurance. Work-related travel possible. Must maintain necessary travel documents. May be subjected to various security and background screenings per company and/or customer jobsite entry request.
  • Customer Service and Communication: Must maintain confidentiality and use discretion with business and employee information. Must maintain an approachable demeaner at all times. Focus on clear, concise communication with clients, vendors, and peers. Professional, positive, and timely communication, both verbally and in writing, is crucial to this role.
  • Focus and Direction: Accepting of interruptions and being able to refocus and stay on task with a high attention to detail. Must be able to take direction as well as instill a proactive, self-directed approach to ensure daily requirements are fulfilled and projects are completed in an efficient and timely manner. Strong ability to prioritize, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain accuracy and work quality. Ask questions to ensure continuous self-learning and development.
  • Analytical Aptitude: The ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents including contracts, customer and industry specifications, engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, regulations, warranties, operating and maintenance instructions, policy and procedures manuals, and work instructions.
  • Technology: Proficient with basic software and smartphone technology including email, internet, and calendaring applications and able to functionally use emerging technologies to support business needs.
  • Hours and Work Environment: Must meet or exceed job requirements and company expectations. Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with the ability to work overtime as necessary. Must maintain a flexible work schedule with possible varying shifts including nights and weekends.

Education and Experience
  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Degree or certification from a technical college or trade school, 1-7+ years of related experience or a combination of electrical education and experience.
