Job summary

Excel Control Products, LLC in Wauconda, IL is seeking an Assembly Specialist to build mechanical and electrical-panel components per drawings and BOMs. You will support production by assembling enclosures, mounting hardware, back panels, and devices, while measuring and verifying parts for accuracy and quality.

Description

Position Summary

Assembles mechanical and electrical-panel components in accordance with drawings, bills of material, work instructions, and quality standards. This role directly supports production capacity, product quality, and on-time customer delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review work orders, assembly drawings, bills of material, and instructions before beginning assigned work.
  • Assemble enclosures, mounting hardware, back panels, brackets, rails, devices, and other components using hand and power tools.
  • Measure, mark, drill, tap, punch, cut, fasten, and fit parts as required by drawings and work instructions.
  • Identify, stage, and verify components and materials for assigned jobs.
  • Inspect work for correct components, alignment, fit, workmanship, and completeness.
  • Record completed work and communicate shortages, damaged materials, drawing discrepancies, and quality issues promptly.
  • Move completed assemblies and materials safely through the production process.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, inventory, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures.
  • Assist with packaging, material handling, cross-training, and other production duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to follow drawings, measurements, and written work instructions.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, small power tools, and measuring devices safely.
  • Ability to work the established production schedule; current shop hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., subject to business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical assembly, or electrical-panel assembly experience.
  • Experience reading assembly drawings or bills of material.

  • Dependability and consistent attendance.
  • Ability to follow standardized processes and work independently after training.
  • Teamwork, communication, and willingness to cross-train.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment and requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, gripping, and repetitive use of hands and tools. The employee must be able to lift and move materials associated with the role.
